The Engineering of a Popup Book about the Truth of Africa

When Africa comes to mind the first thoughts are either about the side that relates with our traits of a society or the ghastly poor and rural side. The middle of these two extremes lies inside the country as well. This side is slowly climbing into either of the two extremes. Christmas is a time of giving, a new computer or maybe a cell phone crosses the minds of many teenagers in the United States. The world would be perfect if everyone was allowed this kind of luxury, nothing is perfect and not everyone can get what they want. There wouldn’t be rural and undeveloped countries if the world was perfect. Just think and place yourself into an open mindset, traveling to Tanzania a different present is in mind to the teenagers of the tribes. This is the reason I am making this popup book.

Tanzania is still a growing country, behind the maturity of many around the world. They are still developing with the help of a few great non profits. Tanzania like many other states in Africa is learning to adapt to a quite original climate. Tanzania was not always has had that name but became that from an assortment of names.

Tanganyika was the very territory that evolved into what Tanzania is today. Tanganyika being a variety of islands and a land of unknown to many in the world and was a great place for a new start. Germany decided to claim the land as theirs and started a colony not even labeled under a name. Around the 1920s the Germans transferred the Land to the British.

Tanganyika in 900 A.D supported many native people known as Bantus. While the main land was oblivious the islands on the outskirts saw what was in store for the land. These islands were the first to be claimed by the Persians and to be name Zanzibar. Over a few years, the main island became a popular place for immigrants from assorted areas after awhile became permanent residents.

Before the fifteenth century, trade routes and communications became connected with China. By opening up these trade routes Tanganyika received supplies consisting of fur, ivory, and beeswax. Slavery comes along with successful trade routes therefore bringing slaves into Tanganyika. Slavery intertwines with many of these things because once someone becomes successful they are able to hire people to do the hard work. Through the years, slaves had become a high demand to the trade routes because of the major growth in Europe’s crops. (http://www.zum.de) Most of the slave trading was done on Zanzibar and didn’t extend far into the mainland at this time. This is part of what helped Zanzibar grow as a trading port.

Zanzibar has never thrived as a formal colony, but had always remained an important trading port to the world. Zanzibar was a main base for traders traveling to places like Arabia, India, and Africa or coming from these places. The archipelago at the time went by the name of Unguja. Also the Arabs influenced what goods were traded on Zanzibar, but they also started influencing the culture by teaching the Swahili language and culture to the island.

The Arabs were able to keep the peace between them and the natives until the Persians came across the island and established some control in Zanzibar and Kilwa. Zanzibar became populated by Arabs, Persians, and the native African peoples. When the 18th century rolled around, Europe tried to have Zanzibar all to themselves. After much fighting and arguments against the Sultan’s hold, they soon were able to take control of it and get rid of slavery in Zanzibar. Even after this certain parts of Zanzibar were still controlled by a Sultan, it was split between two leaders; the Sultan, and the British agents. This is a brief history of what made Tanzania like it is today.

Zero grazing means keeping animals in a stall and bringing the food to them. The use of zero grazing is to keep the animals safe because grazing is too dangerous. In most parts of Africa there isn’t enough land per owner to allow their animals to graze across it and get enough vegetation. (http://www.iirr.org) By Perfecting a regulated shelter raises the performance of zero grazing. Unlike in the United States we have marked off safe land and much of it for our animals to graze off of, Africa because of the massive deforestation most land doesn’t have enough resources to sustain a herd of animals, and because of the dangers of the lands are hard to control. Protecting the animals in this location has been made easier with zero grazing.

Wood is the main source of heat they do not have gas or electric at hand. Most tribes rely on wood for filtering the water, cooking food and constructing the buildings in the tribe. Deforestation is a major problem in these parts of Africa making them have to walk farther distances to get the wood they need to run there lives. Without wood their lives would slowly come to a halt and possibly hurt the society badly.

Malnutrition is a big problem in these parts of Africa. Hard thing to fix with so little resources that are available. Two main food crops that are grown are coffee and bananas using combination growing for both to flourish. Banana trees need lots of sun to flourish making it a great place to grow them but coffee is a different story. Coffee needs to be grown in the shade and being in Africa with a problem of deforestation that can be hard to find. A creative way they fixed this problem was by using the big banana trees as shade for the coffee as they are planted at the base of the trees. This is one of the biggest profits behind cows and live stock. The conditions in these areas make it hard to coordinate a wide variety of crops and forestation, contributing to the scarcity of wood.

Garbage cans are everywhere in our daily lives, the garbage then goes to the dumps where it is compacted or recycled if it’s able to be. Tanzania the means of throwing things away are different then the United States. They do not have the land or organization of the government to have a proper dump yard. Littering and garbage is a big issue in these parts of Africa to the point that plastic bags are illegal to have. This hurts the environment and health of the people living around the land filled with garbage. Slowly by developments and non profits they have been able to teach the tribes of Tanzania how to prevent some of these hazards, increasing the chance of better health to their people.

Walking miles for resources and school is a common part to some tribe’s daily lives. Water is usually several hours away from the main tribe because of a few reasons. The main reason for this is to allow the water not to take on any more contamination then it already is exposed to. They already have a hard time taking out the impurities in the water; a glass of water can take five hours to get unlike matter of a minute or two for us. Global partners for development help to make this easier for the tribes of Tanzania.

Global partners for development are a non profit that brings a new day and hope to many tribes in Africa. They mostly work in the tribes of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The greatest goal of this non profit is to not make it for them but give them the tools to develop it themselves and sustain it with their own supplies. The hardest thing about helping out a country is if you just give them the supplies or make them buy it they won’t be able to sustain it by themselves. Using items and products they already in reach for them allow them to create and develop the community without relying on outside sources in the long run. Self sustaining is the main goal of global partners and have brought that to countless tribes in Africa. Two main projects that have developed incredibility during the years of global partners have to do with water treatment and schooling for the kids of the many tribes. (http://.www.gpfd.org/)

Water has been a big issue for these tribes; most of the water without treating carries several deadly bacteria. Animals walk and clean themselves in the ponds and lakes in these parts allowing bacteria to settle on the waters bottom. Global partners have taken many ideas and made them a reality for the tribe’s water issues. They have created a way for them to collect the rain water off the building and by making a tank they can hold the water closer to the town. They also have created a pipe system that moves the water closer to the tribes with wells or faucets. Another project that has been used in other companies is a playground that helps filter and move the water closer to the tribe. By doing this it incorporates two tasks into one leaving more time to actually boiling water.

Unlike here in the United States where school is required for our children in Tanzania half way through their schooling it becomes private school. By having this it makes them have to pay for the rest of their schooling. There is primary and secondary school, they only give primary teachings to almost everyone. Money is hard to come by to be able to put every kid in a family through school is a rarity. During the first part of school for these kids they learn the material in their native language. Once they hit the seventh grade the text books that are given to them are all in English and they must learn and succeed with a foreign language. Most of the time they are not taught a whole lot of English before they have to learn from it. The amount of girls you see going to school is slim because in Africa chores and house work come before school. If a child hasn’t finished the chores around the house or need to baby sit there siblings, school is out of the question for that day. Women in this society are more important for chores and house work, girls of the ages of fourteen and up are sold for cows to husbands. By supplying a scholarship for the secondary school for such women because their family doesn’t have the money or don’t feel they need of school, these women can learn just like the men of the society. Nothing can hold them back now that such project is around.

Another thing this great company has helped with is buildings in the tribes. Showing the tribes how to produce sturdy buildings is a great lesson to give. They show them ways and give them the products they need to succeed their goals. They also donate books and medical supplies to tribes that are to far away from a medical center. One tribe that was a day’s walk away from the nearest health care took the steps to accomplish a great goal. After the lost of her baby due the distance from help this lady took a group of women and together they pushed to build a medical care in their tribe. Doing this made it so the health of the tribe could be assisted much easier saving the lives of hundreds.

B.E.S.T (building economically sustainable tomorrows) this program was brought upon by global partners for development. One of the programs used in this group and is the main function of the book is the process of a family earning a cow. The reason for this process they have to go through is to allow a better chance that the cow will live and prosper in the families hands. Global partners for development started B.E.S.T with only two small woman groups in the villages of bugarama and kirima. The dreams and goals of these groups exceeded what they had at the time before global partners came around.

The women of the society form together a group that once they organize a confident group they can precede on starting the cow cycle. Before they can start getting cows they have to form a group which usually consists of 20 women. They are held to keep up their own bank then learn how to train the other women in the group on taking care of the animals. In America driving down the highway where herds of cows wonder great amount of acres, Tanzania you would see shelters where the cows are placed and maybe a women walking the cow around the tribe.

The women of the family are given the cows instead of the men. In their society women are property to the men. Giving the cow to the women allows them something of their own. Women’s rolls in the society are a homemaker and mother, unlike in our society it is an optional thing. It is sad to say but women are considered property and are usually sold off to a husband for cows. When a women is widowed them and their property goes to their husband’s family. They can loose everything from this happening, it is wrong for a woman to fight back and say no in most conditions.

When you think of an engineer the thought of a great scientist or a construction manager comes to mind but there are some who work in a smaller union. Paper engineers help create a better way to fold something into a smaller space. Origami is a big producer of paper engineers; these people know the ways to fold the paper precisely to create an object or thing. When you think of pop up books you wouldn’t think it’s a trade skill in its self. Adding these thoughts into a pop up book is a great combination.

Flipping through a book the illustration popping up expressing the meaning and intertwining through the book. Pop up books bring a smile to the faces of children all over the world. First glancing at a popup book the thought of how easy and useless the designs are. The time and preparation behind a popup book are taken upon by experts of paper engineering. People of this field build the designs of your boxes, the design of making the most efficient way to store or manage paper items. The folding design allows the most compact way for the paper to neatly be stored, this thought is used while producing a popup books pages.

The reason behind my book is to create a pop up book to help portray the meaning of the story. When popup books were first made they were focused on adults instead of children like in today’s society. 1306 the first popup book was created for an astrological book having mechanical parts involved through the book. The Catalan mystic and poet Ramon Llull, of Majorca used some of the first looks at popup books by using revolving disc to illustrate his theories. There are three main types of popup books to look at when trying to understand a popup book.

Transformations are one of the different types of popup out of three. Transformations show a scene made up of vertical slats, usually using a tab to pull the scene over transforming it into a completely different picture. Ernest Nistor is known for his use of transformation in he famous children’s book. Nistor would create books purely using just the pop up type transformation when usually people use a few types in one book.

Volvelles are a rotating pop up types that were seen used in Astronomicum Caesareum, by Petrus Apianus in 1540. Grommets are used to help create this action of rotating art. Grommets allow this rotation to not disrupt the hole or socket that is used for it. (http://en.wikipedia.org)

Tunnel books are also called peepshow books consist of holes going through the whole book. The term "tunnel book" comes from the fact that they were for books made to commemorate the building of the tunnel under the Thames River in London in the 1800s. The key thing of a tunnel book is to intertwining scenery around the hole on each page. Intertwining the holes to create an image or portray something is also used. This type of book can be dated back to the eighteenth century where it was inspired by theoretical stage sets. This type of book is mostly been centered around commemorating a special event and even for tourist attractions. Tunnel books are used for the world fair, New York’s botanical gardens and recently resurrected by book artist Carol Barton.

Pop up books have been revived recently in the 1990s, turning more into a concept for children’s book unlike the original books. Before now they were used to teach anatomy and astrology also other great subjects. By using a pop up technique in anatomy you are able to place to pieces in a more accurate spot and create the layer with the popup methods.

Finding the precise things to pronounce in the reading from the rest should reflect what the main image in the page is more important. Looking through the story line and sketches makes it easier to find what design would fit best for each page. Pulling the attention of the reader to one or two parts of the page is the goal, some of the types allow there to be interaction with the reader. This reason is why popup books in this time have been known for being used in children books.

A cow means so much to the people of these tribes, the difference of a cow is the meaning of keeping your children fed. The meaning of this story will allow the kids of our nation understand the true meaning of life. Spreading this meaning to people is the best thing to give. The main statement that really pulled this idea in to me was about how much a cow can mean to them. A cow can mean the difference in keeping a child or paying for school and feeding your family with nutritious food. It can be hard to grasp this meaning by comparing it too the life lived in United States.

This idea came to me from hearing the stories of the tribes in Tanzania from the work of global partner’s development. They have given the opportunity of a life time to be able to make a book about one of the most successful programs. It was very easy to figure out what a good story for the popup book I am making. I wanted to make a book that helped kids learn the view point of the children across the world.

Creating a story line in the perfect matter is hard to accomplish. Because the book is targeting to children being simple and straight to the point is key. The story comes from an African child’s point of view, showing that has taken a lot of research. Talking to my mentor from global partners of development I have learned a bit more of how they live their lives.

The thoughts and goals of a child in these tribes are different then many people I know today the same age. Schooling is given to the children of the United States and most of the time it is forced upon them. The dreading thoughts that come out of the heads of hundreds of children never occur in Africa. Schooling is a second priority in Africa because of it not being free for most of their schooling. Some children walk an hour to school and get denied everyday but they keep going until they let them participate. Chores and taking care of siblings come before school and if they do not finish the house work they have to miss school for that day.

A popup book can be filled with excitement for children, pulling the attention in to the book. Because of how different a popup is to a regular book they are only made by especially skilled people. A popup book doesn’t need a big amount of words to explain the story. The pictures and the interaction creates they make the main idea.

The best place to start while making a story is the main point. The main point of our story is to show the true ways to life in Tanzania and the meaning of a cow. Many people try to compare places like this to United States which doesn’t work at all. When you think of getting a gift you think of a materialistic item like a computer or cell phone. In Africa they think of being able to go to school or getting livestock to help feed their family and maintain their life.

The first step of making a popup book doesn’t start off with the folding. Sketching out the main idea of the popup book is an easy place to start. Taking regular paper and basically make a blue print for the foundation. Making sure the folding parts are clearly shown on this blueprint. Moving parts like sliding doors, running animals and other things like that should be marked clearly.

Next step that comes around is the first step to accomplish the actual popup. After marking out the blueprint you will need cardstock to start this part. By using card stock it will keep the folds and more durable then regular paper. Instead of keeping a complete paper and folding it into the structure you want to use slots. The term slots it kind of like piecing together a structure with the folds being two pieces of paper with one cut and the other slipped into it. Making these pieces are going to be hard to accomplish. Looking at the popup books that I bought for reference helped out figuring out this technique.

After figuring out the slots that will be needed its time to move on to the other moving parts in the popup book. The main items needed for most of moving parts used is string. String is a simple but strong material to use and it can fit between the pages. When using the string it can be used as a pulley and allow a door to open up. String can also help hold some structures together when it pop ups or if string can help pull a structure down in the book. String is very useful to making a popup book be successful.

Now after figuring out the main components it will be easier to make the pop up itself. Adding extra pieces of paper to reinforce places on where it folds can be needed when you are making the pages. Glue also of course is needed to put the pages together and hide the mechanics inside.

Pop up books are harder then they look on the outside. A few problems arise when making a popup book from scratch. In general the steps taken in making a popup book are tedious. The biggest problem to overcome is being able to fold it back into the book every time it is read. Without this the popup book would be unusable because every time it was folded it would ruin the pages. Symmetry is key accomplishing being able to fold it back into the book everyday the page it flipped through. Looking at other popup books made you can see they slot the pieces instead of folding and bending them from one whole paper.

The paper you use is very important part of how your popup will turn out. Without the right paper it can easily rip while building the page. Also another problem with having the wrong paper is that it won’t be able to sustain the fold made with it, resulting in a sloppy page. Cardstock easily fixes this problem; it is not hard like cardboard but not as soft as regular paper. Cardstock holds folds very well and can easily sustain the shaped wanted. Cardstock is the main type of paper used in popup books.

The first thing that came to mind for a senior project was a connection with Global partners for development. Their projects and stories inspire hundreds around the world making them a good subject to use. Because a regular book doesn’t have much of an engineering factor to it so my group decided to combined a great story with a popup book design. By using a popup book it allows our story to entertain younger minds at the same time as old expanding the reach of our meaning.

Educational book are always stereotyped to be boring and full of facts, our book brings a fun concept to it while still teaching children about facts and ways of Africa. Facts will flow through our book showing people what life is like in Africa for people their and how different it is from the United States of America. It’s easy to say a pop up book can make any book fun to read because of the interaction it gives.

A good question that comes to mind with this kind of undertaking is where to start. A good place to start is with the story because without a story you cannot work on the popup elements fully. Both parts of the book are very important the construction and story but it is easy to point out that the story would come first. The story creates the whole emotion to the book and allows an easy way to decide the pictures and what types of pop up books to use. Different pop up book types are better for showing different elements for the reader to understand. It might seem hard to use the wrong popup type but it can easily miss used.

The many popup book types are used in different ways in books. Some books just use a few types but unlike others that pull numbers of them together. The basic pops up types are hard to mistake being a flapping door or a moving chicken. But using a moving part for a stationary person would be wrong to do because you are giving off the wrong point to your reader. Making sure you don’t contradict your story is a good place to start because if you can accomplish that you are going to do fine. That is another reason why figuring out the story is a good place to start.

The writing process can be hard or easy how ever you want to look at it. The meaning of my book is to show the true side of Tanzania a good place to start was the facts. The facts are a big part to the story because the story was built around the facts that were gathered. After getting the facts into order it made it easier to create the true story and bring out the entertaining side of the writing process. Without the facts it was hard to make a story that held true to what was wanted to be accomplished. That is the main reason you must think of the facts before you can trust the story will follow the true meaning.

At first one major problem proved a barrier against the production of the book. It’s easier said then done trying to make a book that follows the true life of a place you don’t live in. Africa being so different from the United States made it hard to stay in the same frame of mind. Pulling yourself of what you have known your whole life was a big task to overcome. At first the story board was started my group thought it sounded great until we showed it to our mentor of global partners for development where we heard the hard truth that we were taking it all wrong. It was hard to just start over but it was what had to be done. Leaving us at a fresh start is where the came to the idea of providing facts to help boost the truth of our writing.

The placing of our facts will flow with the actual story of the book. But first will start out with a summary of the great achievements of global partners of development because of the great impact they have left on this book. It would be considerably illogical if the facts didn’t run with the story because it would just confuse the reader. That came to a hard part making sure the fact were simple and clear and didn’t bring confusion but realization to the reader. Showing someone that women will walk hour for just a barrel of water just to come home and boil it for hours can bring great shock to how easy people in the United States really have it.

After knowing all of the materials needed to create a pop up book it still brought a dead end with it. Even with the materials it doesn’t change the difficulty to actually constructing the pop up book itself. Sketching out the images is a good place to start when making a pop up book from scratch because they will be the basis to your pop up book construction. But instead of drawing just a regular picture like you would do for a flat book or just for fun they are made differently. To help predict what the pop up book will look like you want, drawing where things will slide or fold helps a lot to imagine how the end product will look. It will soon come out to what you want after time of erasing and retrying.

Placement of the pop ups themselves is a very delicate process, a pop up isn’t a pop up if it doesn’t catch someone’s attention. With this statement said you don’t want any useless popup in your book because it can bring confusion to the reader. The interaction of the popup through the story grabs the reader in and allows them then to see the facts that go with the page.

The setup of the pages will stay around the same for each page. The page will have a few eye catching pop up picture depending on what’s needed for the page and also an interactive moving or flap up piece. With this there will also be the factual paragraph that will be on a fold out on the side of the page with content that concerns with what is being read on the page. On the page it will have a children style writing very short and to the point making it easier for younger children to read it. With this in mind it shows the versatility of our book making it a great book for the young and old.

After figuring out the main point of the story it came to the point to try making the pop up part of it. Attempts were made with many types of paper and horribly failed many times. The first attempt was with printer paper from the engineering room which was a pathetic try at that. Cutting and folded proved difficult with such thin paper making it hard to keep a fold how you wanted it to be. This brought upon the true reality that a popup book isn’t as easy as it looks. After this attempt we headed to the internet to buy two books we could use and analyze for better understanding of what a paper engineer does.

The two books are very familiar stories to everyone; one was a Narnia book and the other about Christmas. They both had very different styles of writing to them and gave a break through thought about popup books to my group. The Narnia book used slots to create the intricate images that accompanied the pages. On the other hand the Christmas book showed a more simple way to accomplish a pop up book showing the meaning of using symmetrical images making it easier to fold into the paper. This were the two big points that came out of the book making it easier and less overwhelming to have a better start on the pop up book.

After this assessment of these pop up books it was time to sit down and focus on the first prototype of the book. Learning about what type of paper to use and looking at the real thing brought a better understanding and allowed better understanding. The first prototype consisted of a pull tab, popup and flap making a great first prototype. After having this satisfaction it was time to get all the facts down and practice the popup more.

In general the steps of a pop up book are hard to understand at a first glance. It takes time to really understand the steps of a pop up book but once you figure it out it only gets better after time. The hardest thing to overcome in making a pop up book is to be able to fold the images back into the book easily and every time. Many of the components talked about in this paper make it easier to fold it and accomplish a great pop up book.

The meaning of this book is the greatest part of this project, showing the world the true side. Global partners for development supported and helped throughout this project and deserve this dedication. The hope of reaching out to people is all that is intended and I hope it’s accomplished. The book is thought to be shipped to millions of children around the world to spread this meaning to kids everywhere, Global partners for development is helping to make this come true.

end of the year thoughts

thinking of how long i have spent my life in school and it is finally coming to a end. the first day of kindergarten was a long time ago but was a big part of my life. everyday of school i went through change my life and made the person i am today. going from being bullied in middle school to having a great time through high school. now coming to the point that i am graduating in a week from this day it makes my head rush with memories and what i am going to miss from my high school.

my high school was the school i have stayed the longest at,seeing the new classes come in and follow behind me. it is hard to say i wont miss this place but at the same time it isn't. I will miss my old teachers and the lower class men friends i have made, still leaving a few people i wont personally miss but will always remember them. because of what my school did by making a zero period that mixes all the different classes together, it allowed me to make a lot of lower class men as friends.

i will miss this school but cant wait to gradaute!

cyber bullying

Cyber bullying been intertwined with the internet for a few years now. Looking through the internet for a blog topic I stumble upon a article concerning this very subject. A bill has been proposed to help eliminate such acts like cyber bullying. by this bill being proposed it could easily put half the internet behind bars just by this one bill.

The Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act is Congress’ response to the 2006 suicide of a 13-year-old girl who was harassed on MySpace. this bill will make it illegal to commit any acts of harassment against someone through electronic communication. this would stretch from text messaging with phone to emails and other ways of communication that isn't talking face to face. You may think this kind of bill will go against your rights but as it is seen now it will not be able to push against what the constitution goes by.This law is here to make it easier for a court to determine whether someone falls under crime.

After looking at this article it is easy to see a lot of problems might occur is this bill is passed. because it is so open ended where anything could fall under harassment if the victim says so. It can easily fix the problem that it was made to stop but also create more in the long run.

2009 pushing for changes?

looking through the past at 2008 the declines and rises of our nation. Economy has been the center point of most of the declines that have marked this country in the past year. The stock market for the first time I have been able to notice, before last year I didn't know much about how the stock market could effect us.

I don't think this can easily go away in one year, we will be dealing with the economy we ruined. It is hard to really say what will happen in 2009 specially because of a new president coming in to run our nation.A new president has a 50/50 chance that he will either help or destroy this country. Its even hard to say that he will fulfill the many things stated during his campaign now that he is president.

The optimistic side to this story will hopefully bring this country together better. The economy will rise and we will be able to fuel the country with a alternative source allowing us to save the oil we have left. The stock market will stay steady and allow people to sustain their companies. The president will help end the war in the appropriate way not harming the nation itself. Its hard to be this optimistic when these actions haven't been seen in a long time.

Death of Bettie Page

On december 11th 2008 bettie Page a famous pinup girl in the 1950s died at the age of 85. Bettie Page had many achievements before her death, making her famous through out the years. Looking back a few week before her death, there were a few complications she faced. 3 weeks before her heart attack she went through having pneumonia  a disease that cripples a persons immune system. On december 2nd she had a heart attack pulling her into a coma and intensive care. It was a hard decision for the family and friends of bettie page to take her off the life support that was keeping her alive, but finally on december 11th they released her from it.
"She captured the imagination of men and women with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality," Roesler said "she is the embodiment of beauty" many of these quotes float around the world about the life of Bettie Page. Today many people idle this beauty carrying on her legacy with collections and dedicating their life to her.
Bettie page started a revolution breaking away the boundaries for pinup girls like herself in the 1950s. She faced and battled and illness pulling her under the surface allowing her to disappear. During the 1990s when Page resurfaced she allowed very few interviews as long as her picture wasn't taken. Bettie Page felt that she didn't want to be seen as how she is now but as she use to be in her glory days.
Bettie Page 1923-2008 has been a great impact on our society. Page set off a revolution creating a sense of freedom for everyone. It will be hard to forget such a legacy that has been lost yesterday. She will always be in the memory of millions, motivating millions.

Furby look alike

A clawed fur ball that fits in just one hand was sighted alive for the first time in 80 years. It was thought through everyones mind that this furby look alike was extinct.Over about a two-month period, scientists in the Indonesian island of Sulawesi caught and released 3 pygmy tarsiers. They surprisingly resemble a Furby, an electronic toy that spoke its own language and dominated children's wish lists in the late 1990s.
they found two males and one female and another they couldn't catch sitting high in a tree. The last time one of this species was caught before this was in 1921 for a museum. It was thought until 8 years ago that the furby look alike was extinct but recent discovery tells over wise. 8 years ago while trapping rats they accidentally trapped and killed one of these cute little furby look a likes.
The creature is from the ape family, nocturnal primate. The three they caught and released were captured by using nets then radio collared. By radio collaring them will help scientists to learn even more about this species. The unknown has been dug up out of deep thoughts of extinction.
A few things they already know about them are their eating habits and behavior to a extent. They are completely carnivores one of the only primates that are, they eat insects. They usually only bond into pairs and have two breeding seasons. unlike other of its species it does not build nests or use scent to mark their territory. More knowledge will come out of this discovery and help us learn more about this wonderful animal.
